Methodology

How the index is computed

Career Fusion translates a student's record into a single number on a 0–1000 scale. Every input is observable and every pillar is reproducible from your profile data.

The CF-EIS v1.0 formula

Career Fusion uses the Employability Intelligence Score — five validated pillars, three data streams, live market weighting, temporal decay, role alignment, and a market signal.

CF-EIS = [Σ (Pᵢ × Wᵢ(t, m))] × RAF × MRAS
Pᵢ    = 0.15·S1 + 0.30·S2 + 0.55·S3   (Three-Source Validation)
E(t) = E₀ · e^(-λᵢ·t) (Temporal Evidence Decay)
Wᵢ = default ± 0.08 (Dynamic Market Weighting)
RAF ∈ [0.50, 1.20] (Role Alignment Factor)
MRAS ∈ [0.70, 1.30] (Market Readiness Signal)

Every claim also carries a trust stage (0–5) so employers see graded evidence, not a single pass/fail badge.

The five pillars

Verified Skill Capital · VSC

30%

Technical + transferable skills, verified via platform assessments, faculty rating and third-party certifications. Highest weight because it's the strongest predictor of employment outcomes.

Portfolio & Proof of Work · PPW

20%

Completed projects (rubric-scored), live URLs, competitions and published work. The bridge from claimed competence to demonstrated competence.

Career Readiness Behaviours · CRB

20%

Observable job-search activity — CV completeness, mock interviews, applications, events attended, networking. High-decay: it must reflect current, active engagement.

Professional Experience Index · PEI

20%

Internships, part-time work, leadership and endorsements — relevance-weighted to the target role cluster.

Engagement & Growth Trajectory · EGT

10%

Momentum: weekly activity, skill-score velocity, goal completion. Captures where the student is heading, not just where they are.

Trust framework

Every skill claim carries a trust stage from 0 (self-reported) to 5 (independently audited). Employers see graded evidence — not a single pass/fail badge. Read the full trust framework →

Why five pillars, three streams?

The literature is clear: 75% of employability measures rely exclusively on self-report, which over-states the desirable and under-states the undesirable. CF-EIS requires three independent confirmations — self-reported (15%), institutionally verified (30%), and behaviourally demonstrated (55%) — before a pillar counts. Any pillar missing S2 or S3 evidence is capped at 65 and flagged "unverified".

Explainability

Every score is fully explainable at three levels: band summary (Gold/Silver/Bronze + biggest gap), pillar breakdown (five sub-scores, RAF, MRAS), and evidence audit trail (which items, decay status, refresh action). You always see the same breakdown employers see — no hidden weighting, no proprietary re-rating.
